Katerine Escobar is an artist from Medellín, Colombia, she graduated in visual arts from the National University of Colombia.

 

Her work is surreal and conceptual, based on a personal perception of life, education, politics, nature, religion and contemporary phenomena such as the historical situation of women within society.

 

She collects elements and symbols to generate contrast or duality, comparing and confronting the natural and the artificial, the sublime and the abominable, the past and the present.

 

The aesthetic appearance of Katerine's work arises from the technical skill of many years of practicing organic drawings with graphite which heavily influences her approach to digital art.

 

All of her digital work is created on an iPad, using illustration software that has an extensive number of graphite pencil options. These digital pencils offer super realistic, meticulous strokes. The result of this approach is a natively digital work that has the appearance of a realistic drawing, with a hyper realistic finish.

 

In her drawings she  represents mostly women characters, everyday objects and things in nature such as plants and animals that are deliberately combined to produce provocative, absurd, sarcastic images. The character of her  work is reflective, conceptual and at the same time endowed with a universal language that makes it easy to visualize and generate an immediate reaction from the viewer.
